Broad-gauge Railway Project Progresses Apace in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) — The construction of Hyesan-Samjiyon broad-gauge railway is progressing apace in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

This project is aimed to spruce up Samjiyon County as befitting a center for education in the revolutionary traditions and provide better traffic conditions for visitors to the historic sites and battle sites in the area of Mt. Paektu.

Through a collective innovation movement, the builders finished the heading of hundreds of meters of railway tunnel in less than half a year.

According to data available, a work to lay railroad beds and build structures has been carried out over 90 percent and the construction for revetment, piers and extension of railway tunnel 85 percent.
