A ceremony took place on July 16 to start the construction of the Sunchon Phosphate Fertilizer Factory.
It was attended by Premier Pak Pong Ju, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and vice-chairman of the DPRK State Affairs Commission, senior Party and government officials, relevant officials, builders and locals in Sunchon.
Jang Kil Ryong, minister of Chemical Industry, made an address, followed by other speakers.
The speakers said that Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un set the ambitions targets to implement the five-year strategy for national economic development and pushed technical upgrading of the chemical industry to build new chemical goods production bases that rely on locally-available resources in a far-sighted manner, adding that he gave valuable instructions on several occasions to boost the production of phosphate fertilizer.
They called for working dynamically at the Mallima speed while smashing the US’ barbarous toughest sanctions in order to complete the project on the highest level by dint of self-reliance and self-development.
A resolution was adopted at the meeting.
