1st Plenary Meeting of 8th WPK Central Committee Held under Guidance of General Secretary of WPK Kim Jong Un

Pyongyang, January 11 (KCNA) — The 1st Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea was held at the conference hall of the office building of the Central Committee of the Party on Jan. 10.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, guided the plenary meeting.

Attending the meeting were members and alternate members of the Party Central Committee who were elected at the 8th Congress of the Party.
Present as observers were leading officials of the departments of the Party Central Committee, the provincial, city and county party committees, ministries and national institutions.

The 1st Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Party elected the Political Bureau and the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Party Central Committee headed by the general secretary of the WPK.
It elected secretaries of the Party Central Committee and organized its Secretariat.

Elected at the meeting were the Central Military Commission of the Party and there took place an election of the Central Auditing Commission of the Party according to the Party rules that had been amended.

Appointed there were department directors of the Party Central Committee and editor-in-chief of Rodong Sinmun, the organ of the WPK Central Committee.

Importantly studied and discussed there was the agenda item on establishing a new discipline and supervision system within the Party.
Saying that it is the precondition for displaying the leadership and fighting efficiency of the Party, the general staff of the revolution, to tighten discipline, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un noted that it is necessary to newly establish the discipline and supervision system in order to establish strong discipline within the Party to strictly implement the rules and policies of the Party and to root out abuse of power, bureaucratic practices, irregularities and corruption.

He said that the boosted power of the Central Auditing Commission of the Party at the 8th Congress of the Party importantly aims at further developing our Party into the one which makes revolution, struggles and advances by setting up strict discipline and revolutionary discipline throughout the Party.

The Supreme Leader referred to the newly regulated mission of the Party Central Auditing Commission to further tighten the centralistic discipline in the Party, supervise and investigate all the violations of the Party’s discipline, abuse of power, bureaucratic practices, irregularities and corruption and high-handed and arbitrary practices, which impede realizing the monolithic system of leadership of the Party Central Committee, to examine the problem of the Party discipline, to deal with complaints and petitions and to check the Party financial management.
The Plenary Meeting, given that the authority of the Party Central Auditing Commission was raised so as to specialize in supervision and investigation for the purpose of tightening the discipline within the Party, decided to form an execution department as a machinery measure to guarantee its realization.

The plenary meeting analyzed that when the departments in charge of dealing with the Party’s discipline are formed from the Party Central Committee to the provincial, city and county Party committees and begin their work, practices violating and challenging the discipline of the Party organization and infringing on rules and functions and all sorts of practices tarnishing the revolutionary climate in the Party will be constrained a lot.

Clarifying the principle and methods of work to be maintained, and main tasks to be carried out by the departments in charge of supervising the Party discipline, the Supreme Leader referred to the need to strengthen the Party guidance for bringing about a turn in the abidance by state discipline and law enforcement so as to push ahead with the work of establishing the discipline of the Party and state in a unified and simultaneous way.

The Supreme Leader put an important emphasis on always organizing and conducting work in the interests of the Party and the revolution and for the purpose of defending and firmly consolidating the single-minded unity of the Party and the masses when settling the issues of violating the discipline and of complaints and petitions.

A new machinery and work system to practically supervise and control the work of establishing discipline within the Party was established with the 8th Party Congress as an occasion and this provided a significant starting point and turning point for the 8th Party Central Committee to powerfully conduct the work for strengthening the discipline within the whole Party.

The 1st Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee held under the guidance of the Supreme Leader served as an epochal occasion in providing a firm guarantee for capably organizing and leading the work of implementing the crucial struggle lines and strategic and tactical policies before the Party and the revolution and in strengthening the leadership and militant function of our Party in every way by thoroughly establishing iron discipline and revolutionary climate within the entire Party. -0-
